How do I use Alcohoot?
Alcohoot is very easy to use. At least 15 minutes after your last sip of alcohol, open the Alcohoot app on your smartphone, plug in the device to your smartphone’s headphone jack connection, wait for the app to say ready and click “Tap to begin.” When the blue LED turns on, blow into the mouthpiece for 5 seconds. Your results will appear shortly after.

What if I lost my user manual?

How long do I need to blow into the device?
For an accurate result, Alcohoot requires 5 seconds of blowing time. If you blow less than 5 seconds an error will pop up and you will be prompted to try again.
How hard do I need to blow into the device?
To ensure an accurate reading please blow into the device steadily for 5 seconds. A common misconception is that you need to blow into the device as hard as possible – this is not the case. A steady breath is all that is needed.
Why is it recommended to wait 15 minutes since my last drink before I perform a test?
In order to ensure that there is no residual alcohol in your mouth, which would show a inflated BAC result, we recommend waiting at least 15 minutes since finishing your last drink before performing a test.
How do I find my device serial number?
To find your device serial number, open up the settings screen in the Alcohoot app while your device is connected. The serial number is at the bottom of the settings screen. If you still have the original packaging for your Alcohoot, you can find the serial number on the bottom of the packaging.
Does Alcohoot share any of my personal or identifiable information?
Do I need to do any pairing with the Alcohoot device?
Your Alcohoot device does not require any pairing, all you need to do is plug in your device and you’re ready to go.
How accurate is Alcohoot?
Alcohoot is comparable to professional grade law enforcement alcohol screening devices with +/- 0.01% BAC @ 0.100% BAC. Alcohoot is also a registered medical device with the FDA and meet all the FDA’s quality standard requirements.
How does the Alcohoot device work?
Alcohoot uses a professional grade fuel cell sensor, a sophisticated internal pump, and a vibration sensor to analyze a deep breath sample quickly and accurately.
How accurate is Alcohoot?
Alcohoot is comparable to professional grade law enforcement alcohol screening devices with +/- 0.01% BAC @ 0.100% BAC. Alcohoot has undergone extensive third party testing, is a registered medical device with the FDA and meet all the FDA’s quality standard requirements.
It is important to wait 15 minutes since your last drink before testing your BAC in order to achieve an accurate result. Additionally, your device needs to be calibrated as per the calibration section of the FAQ.

What temperature should Alcohoot be used and stored at?
For optimal results use the device at room temperature. Avoid leaving your device in extreme temperatures.
How long does the battery last? How do I know the battery level of my Alcohoot?
Alcohoot uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that at a full charge will last 500+ tests. To check the battery level of your Alcohoot, simply open up the menu screen on the Alcohoot app while your device is connected. We will also give you a notification when your battery is low.
How do I charge my Alcohoot?
To charge your Alcohoot, simply use the provided USB charger cable.
Do I need to use the provided mouthpieces?
While the mouthpiece isn’t entirely necessary, it will ensure that you are blowing only your breath into the device, and not ambient air, that can skew results. It is also a great way to hygienically share the device with others.
Can I re-use the mouthpieces?
Yes. Alcohoot’s mouthpieces are washable and re-usable.
How do I know how many tests I’ve performed with my Alcohoot?
To check the number of tests performed simply open the menu on the Alcohoot app while your device is connected.
